Time out / log out

I'm always being logged out if I'm idle for to long. This normally happens when I'm writing out a post / reply.

Is there a way to turn it off or at least extend the logout timer?

When you log on, Check "Remerber me" :D

In contrast, I can't log out without having to reload and clear cookies manually, sometimes I have to restart my browser, ever since it was down for the changeover.
A couple of times I've gone to log in and was already in.
