My name is Dann Cooper and I'm a filmmaking student studying at Manchester School of Art and was hoping to make a documentary about Realdoll's and people that have/collect them.

Is there anyone on this forum that would be willing to help me out, hopefully in the Manchester area or the surrounding areas.

It's not my intention to degrade your interests, it's more to gain an insight into the fascinating world of Realdolls.

Hey Dan, please understand the skepticism here and on any other forum where the interest is not mainstream. if you want to gain insight (and the trust of the members) hang out here. Chat with us. Get involved, maybe not to the point to owning, but ask questions etc.

We arent an unfriendly bunch, but i think you'd be hard pushed to find anyone willing to allow a complete stranger access to their personal intimacies.

It's fine dollman2, I can understand people taking advantage when opening up (I've seen it in documentaries before but I just think it's a horrible way to treat someone that has let you be involved in such a personal topic, not based on this but anything that's not seen as "normal"), but I will show whoever's involved in the film, the film before I show it to anyone else!

I want to apologise too, I have come into this pretty head on but I should take a few steps back and take Karrot's advice and chat to you all for a while to make myself less of a mysterious internet person!

I agree with Karrot - the best thing to do is do some research on here, read some of the threads on different makes (i.e. are you only interested in Real Dolls?).

We're a pretty relaxed bunch. I've had a couple of positive experiences with photographers - but I think that's a different medium to film, which as dollman2 alludes to, the emphasis can easily be shifted in editing and post-production.

Midiman is the guy to speak to, as a fellow documentary maker. Although based in Canada, and spends more time over on TDF. He might be able to smooth the way and give you tips on how to go about your project.

I'm still in the closet and i like it that way, though i am married and my wife does know about the dolls and occasionaly helps out with buying clothes etc, It has to be said though my dolls are for photography use only, and there is no hostility i just have a longstanding fude with teddybabes :evil: but its all in fun. :D

Pepole will always see these dolls as sex dolls and we are a bunch of ugly men who can't get a real girlfriend so we bonk dolls instead, i don't belive that will ever change. Each doll manufactor has their own part in this forum this being the Real doll forum and then you have the boytoy forum, ruby13,Sinthetics,candy8teen and so on so there are many different dolls out there though the original is the Real Doll by Abbys Creations in the USA who actually started out making special effects for hollywood films then started making dolls apparently. :tu

Yes Cindy is with Jess and I and she will be staying for the foreseeable :tu some times Dolls change hands. On this occasion Sam and i conconted a story to go along with it and spin everyone alonf got a 2 week ride :D

I am from Austria and found my home in this forum to talk about my passion. I have 6 sillicone girls living with me at the moment, two more are project dolls.

Hmm... There is a German Dollforum about vinyl dolls but the people there are not to familiar with silicone girls so my impression is they just want to get there hands on one and bang it or drool over the pictures of the doll while argue how someone can spent so much money for that. There is TDF in the states and ourdollforum I think, but here is a family like athmospere and when I post a picture from one of my dolls I can bet wulfie and samurai will respond within one day. :-)
I need to drive pretty far to pick up my girls. I was in italy, switzerland and germany for my hobby - cause they are just to rare.

I started with dolls cause I had a distance relationship and wanted one as companion longtime before. But I think there are not really stereotypes of doll owners, some ones a married others are single, some are short of money and fullfill there dreams with one doll and others can afford several dolls, some are shy others marry the doll in public, some take only pictures with the dolls and enjoy there company others make the private porn star thing.
Project doll is a doll that I bought for restoration. I have a realdoll that is to old for use she sat for 10 years in the same position and when I came for pickup she split due of compression damage. She will go to a collector as a static doll. The other doll is a lifedoll that came without core, just the skin. I try to remold her, her head is restored already... so thats my projects....
Hope you find your info for the doll movie. Sounds like an interesting project but hard to find people for it. I loved a documentory about candygirls factory, orientdolls in japan. One of the employees took one of the dolls to a love motel for testing. He need to explain why his female companion was lifeless hanging over his shoulder covered in a carpet. :-)

From coming on here I've seen that there's a lot more on here than just "drooling and banging" the dolls. And there's some sweet stories too, what Karrot said about his sister lending him the money for his first doll made me happy, I'm just so glad that you have people around you that are kind and then there's this forum for you to come and talk with everyone about anything. This is just such an amazing community.

It is a difficult subject to quantify or categorize as everyone on here are completely individual, we don't believe in following standard mindsets. We are not simply dumb people who can't get a 'real woman', this is a life choice and one that can take some thinking about when you realize how many different types of doll are out there, I have a Teddy Babe Deluxe because they are extremely cute, if not an exact imitation of a human woman, and they are seriously cuddleable which is something I wanted and now enjoy.

In the same vein, people who make their own dolls do so for a variety of reasons but I think you'll find it's not so much about making money but the pride in achievement and having a unique doll.

I'm afraid I am not interested in being 'outed' in any way as I like my privacy and has been said before, it's my life and nothing to do with anyone else. I have broad shoulders to criticism but I will not hand myself on a plate for public ridicule and although that may not be your intention I can guarantee that many people would ridicule it. The creator of this site has Youtube videos that have some pathetic and demeaning comments and I have on a couple of occasions brought the subject up with 'outsiders' only to find that they see it as sad(not upset kiind of sad) or refer to people who have dolls as idiots. That's up to them, they live in a blinkered society and have been trained through life as to what is socially acceptable or not.

Good luck in your quest although I think you would have more luck with a subject like football, people love to talk about that!

Hi Dann.
I live with a Teddy Babe known as "Lady Kat" or "The Countess!" She lives here and is part of my life. Although we can and do have a physical relationship at times, by far the most important aspect for me is the emotional one of having "somebody" to care for and about and..to love! In that sense I always refer to her not as a "Sex Doll" but a "Love Doll!" I love her quiet company, she is a wonderful sleeping companion and I enjoy buying her things, dressing her in nice clothes and taking lots of photos of her. I'm very fond of Kat and treat her almost as a human lady; moreover we are engaged and we have a little daughter "Ollie!"

As has been said, it's a lifestyle thing for me. It isn't about sex or some kind of naughtiness or secret perversion. I'm quite easy about my interest and Kat has been good for me. It's nice that the doll can do that for you, from being on here it seems like most of you enjoy the company of the doll, and it's great that you can live out your fantasies without hurting your wife. Here is a possible compromise, you start a thread called something like, "Interview questions for my documentary" and you list all of your main questions and request pics that would be permissible for you to use, then when you get a bunch of answers you could counter with secondary questions to fill in the detail of where you want to be. I'm sure many would answer the questions in such an anonymous way and many will probably allow the use of some pics, and there is enough variety on here to show how photography plays a part - that said, we are just doll owners/lovers who enjoy photography, we aren't all experts but have found that we can actually use a camera and have fun sharing with each other.

With that much info and a stack of photos you could have your actor either answering the questions or an actor simply stating some of the answers in a conversational tone backed by photos and maybe slideshows of some of the photo stories(after seeking permission, of course) and you could also have him videoed in a silhouette for anonymity. Maybe even have some parts with a doll photo in the background and scrolling text across the screen.

I think this approach is probably the most acceptable all round but it is just an idea.

Personally, I still wouldn't want to meet you and that is nothing personal, It would be in the back of my mind that you may videoing me surreptitiously.

In reality, I don't believe that any number of documentaries will change anyone's opinions, when people get curious they look on the net and do a search(I refuse to use google as a verb:mad:), then they shall come across either this forum, TDF or the others dotted around the net. From that search they can make an informed decision if they so desire. I can't speak for other forums but this one clearly shows that it isn't a one-dimensional subject.
