Hello everyone but mainly admin/techies

I have noticed that some posts contain photographs which are visible publicly (without logging in).

My guess is that these pictures have an external URL.

Is it possible to make pictures public which originate in a UKLDF album, the album only being visible by members and not public.

Yes... :D

When you create an UKDF album it can be;

Public: The pictures are only visible by members
Private: The pictures are olny visible by friends, and staff.

Publicly visible pictures are from external links, I don't know of any way to make UKLDF albums public.

Personally I prefer it the way it is, the pictures I post are for the members here to enjoy, that is my priorityhttp://www.uklovedollforums.co.uk/forum/picture.php?albumid=1167&pictureid=28074

The pictures in albums not being viewable unless logged-in is a deliberate action and, at least for the moment, will remain so.

This forum gets thousands of visits daily, if every 'guest' visitor could view the images this would increase our bandwidth use exponentially.
Image hosting here is provided to allow members to build and easily display their photos and albums on this site, not to host them for display elsewhere. Last year we had to complete a long and laborious hunt through all albums on the site in order to remove some inappropriate images that were being hosted here but viewed through another site.

There are other options for images that you want to display elsewhere, either host them on one of the other doll sites that allows this service or through a pic hosting service (beware the T&Cs with regard to 'adult' images though), my personal preference is my own webspace where I can upload and link any images I wish to use on other sites or which are too large for hosting here. :)

I knew there would be a logical and technical reasoning for this, just couldn't think of it atm :wall

Oh yes, I remember the album search all too well:eek: A team effort was needed for that job:tu

Thanks for the replies guys. Apologies for what now appears to be a daft question. There may be situations where someone wants album pictures public but it's not important and sometimes better that they are not.

The system as it stands is what it is for many reasons and I very much appreciate all the comments from CyberTed which makes clear an awful lot.
As you can appreciate I am fairly new to the forum and am unaware of some of the many issues the forum has already been through.

Thanks again guys and dolls

(oh God I think I just quoted Jimmy Saville)

Hi Mondoon,

There is no need to apologize. I thought that the impossibility to make pictures public was an inconvenience of the software. Your question and CT's answer made things clear. So it's never inappropriate to ask.

Agreed, not a daft question and no need for an apology. :tu

It's been asked before but probably in PMs if my memory serves me right. ;)

I'm happy to point anyone in the direction of alternatives if they want pictures to be freely available without logging in.
