Should the person reporting a post expect to receive any response or acknowledgement from the moderators other than a moderation action (perhaps) being taken with respect to the report?
Perhaps you are referring to what happens on another forum that uses phpBB architecture.
On that forum, a response is automatically sent to the reporter, when a report is closed.
Some staff do send an explanatory note on actions and response, but that is certainly not mandated, as with a forum of the size and pace as that one, and the amount of report actions, doing so would be extremely time consuming.
OK, UKLDF uses vBulletin 3.8.4, and I am unsure if this version has the auto response option for the Admins to select as a default action for report closure.
As Sam has explained, generally one can tell if the report has been addressed and moderating action has occurred.
If one is not satisfied with the outcome, send a PM to the staff to discuss grievances and options.
So merely suggesting this from my experiences, and not expressing any UKLDF position.
