Ugh so one of those good news/bad news posts.

Good news? Dog sitting this week for a relative. The dog sniffed Charlotte for circa 5 seconds then happily curled up next to her legs on the bed. Bodes well for puppy arrival in 8 weeks! Might snap a photo or two tomorrow, room was a mess today

Bad news, we seem to have had our first injury. Two of the finger wires on Charlotte's right hand are clearly no longer attached to the wrist - the wrist itself feels stiff and awkward to move compared to the other one, no idea how this happened. I'm not surprised/annoyed as all you guys indicated this was to be expected fairly quickly, but what do y'all normally do?

Cheers!

Manipulate the broken end so it's less likely to pierce through the skin by bending it into a more favourable position, then live with it.

So far, I've steered away from surgery. I can still pose them, so they are good enough.

I'd be inclined to wait until all the dominoes are fallen before fixing.

The general approach is to procrastenate for weeks... ok, fair cop... Months.. before gathering all of the equipment necessary to open them up and fix the hand.

On the bright side, if I can fix a hand then anyone can.

The downsoide is that you will need to follow the same path as others and track every video and post to do with hand repairs.

Trust me, there are a lot. The definitive guide was one of Tommo's that I think was made a sticky... Hang on a sec..

ok, for starters, this one from the start :

http://www.uklovedollforums.co.uk/fo...t=11935&page=2

There's also a pic there of Yvettes hand when it was at it's worst. Her finger wires go straight into her arms so when the finger wires went the entire hand did.

I've got a similar job coming up soon with the 166C as while doing a photo shoot Charlotte fell over, was caught by Georgie who was observing just out of shot.

Georgie ended up with two damaged (pretty sure broken) fingers.

Good news is that the only time that this is a frightening task is the first time that you do it.

Just make sure that you have the right equipment, have read all the right threads and watched all the youtube videos.... Doesn't hurt to be prepared for every eventuality.

My two penneth on the essential equipment.

Good quality hammer drill to drill out the old epoxy resin.
baby oil to clean the wound
Gorilla epoxy resin to create the bond

Tommo's the man to talk to about most elements of the repair espechially fixing the TPE which will involve Xlene, old TPE and a heat gun that can be set as low as 50 degree's (you don't want to turn her into a puddle!).

Good luck matey,

All the best,

Shamus.

Been there, done that, got the T shirt writing the book, lol.

Yvettes hand was... Hang on a sec...

Picture tells a thousand words!

Was fine for four years then went, as you say, like dominoes without any reason for the others to go. It's like they only have sufficient strength to hold the hand together when there are four of them. One less and... Kerplunk.

Oh boy! Ok yeah I will let it play out for a while longer, the fingers still hold their shape and I don't think there is any danger of the wire poking through etc (at least not yet....!)

thanks for the advice guys!
