So middle of last year I picked up a lovely WM161G from a member here. In the description he stated that the joints were "a bit loose". I picked her up and he asked if they were difficult to get to stand as he'd never been able to get her to stand freely. I assumed he meant that balancing was difficult...
So I got her home and it turns out that she's never going to stand... Her joints are so loose that it feels like she was never tightened in the first place. For example, if you lay her on her back and lift a leg it will immediately drop. If you sit her upright she will fold over almost immediately (and from the mid back not the hips). Lift up an arm and it flops back down. I could understand if it was a couple of joints, but pretty much every joint in her body is loose to the point of not holding any poses. I assume that there's nothing that can really be done to help and she's still a lovely doll, I just wonder whether this has happened as a result of any particular treatment or whether it was likely she was just not tightened up properly... |

This is exactly how I would expect a loose skeleton to behave which is why I’ve always gone for a tight joints. The only way to adjust this would be to make an incision on one of the joints and locate the hinge and hope that there is a non welded nut that you can tighten like on the Gynoid skeleton.

Generally speaking, it is one or two joints which fail and maybe the rest aren't as tight as they originally were so I agree with Kazuya that she was likely a loose-jointed doll from the factory. She can still be enjoyed but photography will most likely be sat in a relaxed fashion in a chair or lay down etc.

This video from DS illustrates what their loose joints are like https://youtu.be/foPfy_talk4

My emma is only about 10 months old and her knees are quite loose. She can stand but i have to be really careful how i pose her

Yeah I thought that was the case, seems strange that they would manufacture her with such loose joints without a specific order. The chap I got her from certainly didn't ask for her to be extra floppy and bought her from a reputable vendor (Silicone Lovers).
I certainly don't plan to operate on every joint (as I'd probably mess it up) so she'll have to stay like a raggy doll! |

Obviously if you want one for posing purposes or standing, you need tighter joints, particularly hips and knees. They will loosen in time, but hopefully will stay tight for a decent length of time.

It does sound like an intentional factory choice if every joint is that uniformly loose. Maybe the factory messed up with the order originally and the guy you bought her from didn't have enough experience to know.

Its a natural progression. At some stage they will cease to be able to stand but it just opens up a completely differnt world of photography with them wherre I feel that they pose really naturally when they get to the rag doll phase of their lives.
The one joint that I hate going it the one a third of the way up their backs but even that one you can work around. The rag doll body here is Rivers. The added flexibility adds to her realism. I really don't see it as a bad thing. ![]() ![]() In those couple of images there's not a joint in her body that is tight but she looks natural.
