Default Maiden in distress Now Gone

Broken bone above hip. I think Samurai has done a similar operation.

Collection only from north Sussex near Gatwick Airport.

This lady is around 5ft 9inches and weighs around 40kgs. She's a very fine doll, a lovely TPE formulation and very elegant. I think that this may have occurred when I was photographing her standing, self standing, and she moved off balance and fell. She's virgin and only a couple of months old.

Best wishes

I'm sorry to read your girl is ill....

I think girls are heavy and steel tubes are very thin.

Apparently they have upgraded the skeleton since this model. But I'm desperate for someone to have her, or else she might have to be cut up.

Best wishes

Ok, time for a quick update.

Once I got the doll home I investigated the damage further and discovered that it was the hip weld that had sheared - so effectively the whole right leg and hip had become detached form the rest of the skeleton.

This was going to be a lot harder than I had anticipated. From what I've read and speaking with other doll owners, most broken joints are caused by bolts snapping from the welded nut at a movable joint. If that happens in most cases, simply replacing the damaged nut and bolt will do the trick. In this case, it wasn't a movable joint that had failed, so I had to come up with a way to attached the stainless steel tubing. I don't have any welding equipment, and even if I did, I doubt I'd be able to carry out the weld without doing more damage to the TPE.

After a little research I found a 90degree Kee Klamp (lite) elbow that I though would do the trick.

I managed to reconnect the tubing and secure the elbow in place using the grub screws.

However, as you can see, there is only one grub screw on each arm of the elbow and while the joint appeared solid when the doll was lying down. As soon as I tried to lift her, I could feel the tubing coming loose The grub screws were not providing enough grip to secure the joint and were actually just making the stainless steel tubing bend.

The only way I can see to solve this is to fix something inside the tubing and secure it with nuts and bolts that go all the way through. I can find nothing suitable of the shelf, so I'm going to try and get a solid 25mm elbow 3D printed which I can slide inside the tubing and then drill through the tubing while it's in place to allow a nut to slide through. Something like this:

I'll let you know how I get on. In the meantime if anyone else has any better suggestions, then please let me know

Cheers,
G

I think Samurai has had experience of this sort of thing. He cut the whole leg off - and possibly if you make some marks which might come out with stain remover to get the alignment right, TPE glue or heat can work quite well.

By doing that one might then insert another pipe inside the skeletal pipes to get a solid right angle with structural integrity

I hope she can come to life again!

Best wishes

HI Harem

I think you are referring to Samurias 'Jade V1' which I grabbed off his hands sharpish when I knew he was getting a replacement sent out.

With Jade (Now Allie) it was a sheared bolt at the joint with no damage to the surrounding metalwork so it wasn't anything like this. I had to re-do that repair and mix-melt some TPE from Maria's boob job and TPE from an insert to effect a colour match repair. It was simply a case of replacing the screw and some washers and super-gluing the nut in place and crushing the bolt thread.

I'm wondering, with this repair whether some kind garage mechanic could weld together a 90 degree solid to put into the tubing rather than relying on a plastic insert...?
