Default Internet Porn Block to Come Into Law Soon...

I remember this coming up some years ago, and it was resolved by search engines and ISPs using "Family Filter" settings. However, I got tipped off by a post from a forum elsewhere about the "Porn Block Law" coming into force next month...

Smaller porn sites may struggle to implement such measures and so are likely to be blocked to UK IP addresses. The rules will be enforced by the BBFC on the government's behalf, and any sites breaking the rules could be fined up to 250000 or be blocked by IPs.
Here's some more details about it: https://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/ent...7?guccounter=1

Now, why I'm bringing it up here, is that there could be a risk that sites like this, or TDF that could become blocked to us users unless we give up our personal details to some random organisation, or have to go to the local shop to buy a "verification card"!

I've had some fun in the past where I've tried to access this site or TDF on a WiFi connection away from home*, and have been blocked from doing so. Sites like DeviantArt also were on their naughty lists. So I wouldn't put it past the BBFC to classify Doll Photography as a porn site at some point...

Am I just being paranoid, or just not impressed with the way this is heading?

*A VPN set to another country usually fixes this!

It maybe a simple case of verification of a credit card, and then that allowing you access.
I use WiFi at home, but I am not at home that much, 80% of the time I access this forum, TDF, and ODC on my phone, when I am out and about or at work, I don't use the works WiFi, because I am one of only three at the company that can, it will be easily traceable to me, so I switch it off. I access the forum using my data allowance (as you can imagine I use a lot) this is on O2 network, to get access I have given them my credit card details and they deducted a pound if I remember correctly and refund me later, it all works great without a problem. If this is the way they will be doing it I would not have much of a problem with that.

My understanding is that this possible law would apply to enterprises seeking to make a profit from their pornographic endeavours.

UKLDF does not seek to show a profit and the law, as I understand it, would not apply.

However, I am not a legal expert.

I'd think that 'enforcing' this type of law would be rather ineffective without resorting to totalitarian measures.

Governmental busybodies just can't help themselves, seeking out something, anything, to rule and regulate...

It'll never work I've been watching US tv shows from sites that are blocked by UK and my isp for years. And torrents, youtube channels etcetc Sooooooo many easy ways round it it's not funny. If they manage to succesfully block anyone, it'll just make it even easier with newer anti-blocking software. Geeez, not even a lot of people know how to use VPN properly since the bigger companies now offer their own VPNs. If you think VPN hides your information, think again
Only AFTER reading proper instructions that aren't usually open to the clearnet you'll be properly protected

In a way there are already some restrictions. Some UK servers already block Bleep !porn websites. That might be the method that is used to expand into other areas such a porn featuring Bleep, bleep bleep, bleep porn and other sexual violence to block them as well.

All I can see is more people then turning to the Dark Web to get that sort of thing.

Really though it's hypocrisy as you can still get porn by going to any adult sex shop, or even Amazon if you know what films to look for.

Sorry bud it had to be Bleeping done.

You've done it again mcsurfie!

PLEASE edit your post and be less specific, and be mindful of individuals using dubious Google search terms who would end up hitting our site...

We don't want them here.
