Default Foam

There was a thread somewhere (and I'm damned if I can find it) on the topic of foam in Sinthetics dolls. I think the gist of it was that adding foam to a doll's interior made it lighter but less soft. Is this the case?

There are different types of foams used in Sinthetics depending on the area. For instance the "rib cage" is rigid which makes the area much lighter but also harder, like real ribs. The size of the cores is relevant because the foams, soft and rigid, cant compress like the silicone. The soft foam even though it compresses a bit, always wants to go back to "neutral" so it fights posing. Dolls like 4Woods have a full soft foam core which takes up most of the body. It makes their dolls VERY light weight, but it also means posing is more difficult because the foam doesn't want to go to new positions. We've come up with the best trade-offs we can to get the lightest weight, most softness and greatest range of motion. We also work hard to get realistic softness in the right places - women after all are not squishy all over. The Sinthetics are made to feel as close to a fit, young body as possible. In some cases people want softer than "realistic" so we can do smaller cores and soft cores in place of some rigid ones but that increases the weight and comes with additional costs.

Its certainly the case that Lara has a core made up of foam to keep her lightweight. This also resists the pressure of a man bearing down on her.

Here you see the foam exposed.

And once skin is over her torso you dont really notice it
