Default Shipped Doll Received and Corona Virus

Evening all,

Daft question I know but I received my TPE doll a couple of weeks back but I have not been able to unbox her yet (I know, heresy).

Can or could the virus survive on her?

Regards

Have a read here

https://www.bbc.com/future/article/2...st-on-surfaces

Theres no hard and fast evidence or rules on this. But it could survive weeks if the temperature and humidity is right for it to do so.

Best bed would be to unbox wearing gloves and get her straight into a bath with antibacterial soap

If she's Silicone, you can use IPA / rubbing alcohol to disinfect her

Thank’s Karol.

I don’t want to really submerge her in a bath as she has standing feet.

I might try warm water in a spray bottle with some anti bac soap.

Hopefully that will do the trick.

I knew I should have bought a bath bench when I saw one in a charity shop lol.

Jinsan were supposedly treating their dolls and boxes with UV light...

This is probably overly cautious but as I get hit hard by regular flu I've been taking extra precautions regarding packages (spraying down with rubbing alcohol solutions on boxes etc) as I believe I am less likely to survive COVID-19 than most people my age.

Back when this whole thing started I studied previous WHO reports regarding tests on SARS and MERS (also Corona viruses). In certain circumstances they had found the viruses to survive up to 12 days on surfaces.

That does not factor in shipping temps etc, so as Shamus' link to that BBC article proves it could last twice that in low temps, still...if you quarantine it in a warm house for two weeks I'd imagine you are pretty safe.

As you have not touched your doll for a couple of weeks I'd say that's a good length of time, just do as suggested here with an antibacterial hand soap wash (not too hot water to damage your TPE!) and you should be fine.

I was definitely going to leave my doll for 14 days when she arrives but despite assurances that there were no delays at the WM Jinsan factory and that Coronavirus has past in that area of China (probably not true) it's been a month since I ordered and it's been in manufacture for 3 weeks already so when she finally arrives who knows how long I'll be able to resist handling her for.

EDIT : Lol, just as I posted that she moves to stage 6 and factory pics get posted!

I admire your will power, my last one arrived just before the Chinese new year shut down as the virus was just hitting china but I still opened the box straight away.
If I had one delivered knowing what we know now I'd probably wipe the box down with alcohol wipes and wash her with anti bacterial soap. I think we're more likely to catch the bug from people in the uk now rather than parcels from china

Ahhhh, but it's the people in the UK that are handling her we should perhaps be more concerned about...
