First attempt at dressmaking

Being a woman, emma just said to me "why the bloody hell have you made a summer dress in December!!". :rolleyes:
Anyway this is my first try and im quite happy with it. Its just a basic skater dress. Followed a video on good old youtube. Made the pattern from an old bedsheet (from the van so i wont be needing that anymore :whistle:)
Dont ask me what the material is as i dont have a clue. Just picked something that i liked the look of. Its lined with a white silky material, again not a clue what it is lol.
Definitely gonna make some more. Its quite relaxing even when i had to unpick half the damm thing.... Twice :wall.
And now my 2 other lodgers are pestering me for their own dresses. Watch this space.. This week the kitchen, next year the paris catwalks

Just look at how even that skirt is. I hate you. :D Seriously, one of the reasons I don't buy cheap skirts is because I hate that ugly AF rise and droop in the hemline when it hangs straight. And it's bloody common too. No way to check for it until the thing is delivered, so a lot of them have gone straight in the bin. Fantastic job mate. :tu

That's some impressive sewing right there Adam, even more so on the patience scale, well done. Seriously though people will start asking you to alter their clothes, custom make outfits and fix broken favourites.

My advice would be to don't get too good and don't enjoy it too much, unless you want to ditch the tachograph and go full tailor!

You speak as if there's no money in it. I'm on very friendly terms with Sara's seamstresses, and they don't do too badly at all. Getting paid to do something you find relaxing sounds like a win to me. ;)

My comments included a decent level of subtle sarcasm and I was in fact actually inferring the opposite to what you think. This is why I suggested parking the truck permanently and going full time on the sewing machine...he's good, very good.

Thanks for all the comments. I can safely say it will only ever be a hobby lol. Im fine doin stuff for myself cos if it goes wrong i can bin it or start again. Making clothes for other people would stress me out too much as I'd want it to be perfect.
