I've been lurking here a while, but I'm considering getting a doll, and I have some questions;

Which material? TPE, Silicone, Foam, Fabric, Inflatable? I get the impression that TPE is a bit 'high-maintenance' (requiring regular oiling/powdering?), how does silicone compare? I did have two inflatable dolls in the distant past, but both sadly succumbed to leaky seams that eventually got beyond my ability to repair :(.
Also, I'm hoping for not to heavy, I'd prefer not to exceed 30kg. and lighter is better, however, I'm not interested in torso dolls. What I'd like is a doll I can cuddle up in bed with :).
Also, storage, what are the preferred options, given that I live in my own house and don't need to hide anything.

Which vendor? I am based in the UK, it looks like the options recommended here are Cloud Climax, The Doll House and LucidToys, am I missing anyone?

I'm also interested in getting anatomically correct miniature dolls, I hear a lot about the Phicen brand, are there any others (I vaguely recall something beginning with 'J'), is there a recommended outlet for these, or is the 'Amazon and hope for the best'?

I hope I haven't rambled on to much, thanks in advance for any answers.

First off, Ello! :welcome

Second: TPE and silicone both require powdering as often as they begin to feel tacky. Thats just the nature of these materials. How often that is depends entirely on how naked you keep her. for example I powder Maddie about once every couple of months, but she is generally fully clothed all the time, so she doesnt need it more often.

I've had her 2 hears, I've oiled her all over once, and that was more for a deep cleaning than because she needed oil adding.

cant really help you on lighter weight dolls, bit others will be able to advise on whats out there and available.

"Storage" for my girls are the beds in the house, they dont go in boxes or get hidden away. They just laze about on the beds all day.

Full size dolls, I don't see modern TPE dolls anymore high maintenance than modern soft silicone dolls, softer silicone tends to require more cleaning and powdering than tpe, some firmer silicone less so, I place modern TPE somewhere in the middle, Bed girls will need more frequent cleaning in both types of materials.
Foam dolls have the advantage of light weight but don't take much bending or stress around the joints before you're into them needing repairs.

30kg TPE dolls? I will let someone answer that question, mine are mostly a lot heavier than that, and they are not what I would say a good starter doll weight.

silicone can be lighter in some cases, but you will be paying for it in both firmness, (large foam cores make them harder but lighter,), and for some reason my lighter weight Silicone girls are all the eye watering price tag girls.

A few of the folks here have bought from Silicone Lovers, they have some great deals sometimes, the others you have named.

I have a WM 151cm C cup TPE girl, Rachel, who weighs 29.5kg and she's no trouble at all to lift, carry about, pose etc.

I have three TPE dolls with a fourth on the way. They take turns lazing in bed and the others stand around dressed, either in my bedroom or living room. They sit with me when I watch TV, sit or stand near me while I'm working (I work from home), and regularly take part in photo stories.

My favourite UK vendor is Cloud Climax, I've had three of my dolls and a spare body from them. The website is a bit of a pain with bits jumping around and popping up, but I've always had excellent service from them.

With the 1/6 scale dolls, I have a Jiaou, similar to Phicen. There are plenty of those on eBay brand new from online shops.

Regarding SE-DOLL, Ray has moved on. The production quality of SE-DOLL has been under scrutiny for the past four years. Personally I've got nothing against any material but my choice is TPE. Older TPE was more robust but modern TPE is in general more realistic.

From y6our selections I see that we've got another Elf lover. Generally I steer people away from the Neodoll girlfriend range as we don't know what they are but the one that you selected there is Cosdoll so we know where she comes from. The pictures are not of a 148cm girl but rather a 23kg girls whose height I can't mention or I get a slap. I'm assuming that they're bundling the Cosdoll head with a 148cm body. Possibly the same JY one that they supplyuu with the next on your list who is JY #79 (my River and Brooke).

On Elsa babe, I've got one en route at the moment. I'll give the site an update when she arrives. Thats the only one in your list thats Silicone.

So, Elves. You've come to the right place.

A lot that are in the market need small bodies with slender necks and narrow shoulders such as an Irontech 154 or WM 168A. But there are also a good number that work with larger bodies and it really all depends on the sort of Elf youy are looking for.

For a mean girl with supermodel looks who would turn you into a toad just for the shits and giggles of it. WM #286 is your girl. It's like someone merged Malificent with a Victorias secrets catwalk model.

My Angel is a WM #286 (she's really a YL but I'm keepinng it simple so that you can find her easily).

Ah, she's a sweetie.... Doesn't look much like her marketing materials but thats not meant as a bad thing. Just means that she's an individual.

On the mouth opening... Don't be so sure. She almost definitely has an oral cavity burried in there.

When these girls sit for a long time espchially when new the oil in the oral cavity can make the TPE meld together. But, it won't be properly melded. At least not yet.

Wash you hands then gently try prising the lips appart. You should see some movement. Keep going. Gently, and once it reaches the oral cavity properly it will release... It may sound as though she is breathing in. Thats perfectly normal.

Once their mouths are open they are able to tell you their names :D... Although with me, with a few exceptions where the names jumped out at me, I generally fall asleep and when I awake the next morning with them next to me I know who they are. :tu

For the wig generally the one's supplied by Lucid are simple caps rather than back fastening. Work out where the front of the wig is then put the wig on by putting your thumbs under the front. Putting the back on first then pulling over the front. The distance between the top of the nose and the start of the wig should be approximately a thumbs length.

This wig will become your bed wig. She is going to want another one to wear during the day. I tend to find that going on Amazon and starting the search with Ombre wig leads me to some pretty good selections.... Well, either that or just buying every wig that Dandub sells (you have to be fast off the mark to beat me to them lol).

So far she's told me that the Sindarin for 'round hill' or 'mound' is doll.

Cornflour and lots of it.

The smell isn't from the TPE, or even the fine oil that it is mixed with but rather its the surface finishing oil when the TPE is smoothed. Lucid do use some lower end manufacturers but not the bottom feeders so I am expecting no issue with the mineral oil that went into her TPE mix.

If you have ever watched videos of the manufacturing process you will see that to smooth the bodies lots of oil is used and burnt off by skilled workers. The TPE doesn't get burnt but the surface oil does and it can smell pretty bad.

The good news is that its a transient thing. Two weeks time with a little help from you it will be gone.

Cornflour. The stuff that you make gravy out of. Found in large boxes the cooking isle of all supermarkets and cheap as chips.... Thankfully!

First she needs a wash. a spunge bath with soap and water is great.

Towel dry her thougherly and then leave her to dry completely as the next stage cannot come into contact or you risk a crop of mushrooms!

I never put girls in the bath as whilst I can lift their weight leaning over a bath means you are lifting with the back rather than the legs which is just asking for trouble.

My approach is to sit them in a blow up paddling pool and use a really soft 4 inch sable paint brush (thats never been used for paint) and go to town on them.

The benefits of cornflour (or talc) are two fold. (1) it smoothes the skin making it lifelike. (2) it absorbs the surface impurities.

Other tricks for those firstt couple of weeks whilst she loses her scent are spraying perfume or deodorant into her hair... Not onto her skin. Anything you put on her skin she will drink in andf you don't know how some chemicals may react with the TPE.

It sounds more complex than it is. Just start to think of her as a living breathing entity who needs caring for. These girls don't demand a lot but she will thank you for an initial wash and powdering.

I am not above saying that TPE is completely scent free but its a nice smell that you will grow to love like the perfume of a girlfriend. What you are smelling at the moment. The sickly scent is not her, its the burnt finishing oil. It will pass.

As you discovered yesterday the oral cavity can seal up due to the excretion of oil that meld the TPE together. It can also start to harbour some nasty bacteria from all the kissing.

Tampons will absorb moisture / oil and the tampon casing used on its own opens up the orifice for allow airflow.

Yep, both are fine. Its all just a matter of choice. I prefer Cornflour, others prefer talc. Whilst there have been debates on here as to the relatives merits of both there is no right or wrong in that. Either will sort out the issue :tu
