Hi strange question but do WM sell dolls with no finger wires?
Finger pokes are annoying and im still not ready to attempt surgery on Amy so every time a poke has come through I have snipped a bit off the wire. On the last three fingers on her right hand the snapped wire has poked through her palm, and I have managed to remove the whole wire of that finger. To all those who know what I mean - I have unravelled the string and removed the wire with minimal/no damage. U can't tell with the naked eye and personally I'd rather see floppy fingers than weird bent out of shape fingers. I don't want to ramble on too much so my question is can I order without wires and if so would the price remain the same, be less or would it be a special order and cost more as I'm requesting something which is not standard? Thanks |

An interesting question!
IF these dolls ARE made to order, rather than picked off the shelf, then I can't see why you couldn't ask for and get it. |

I don't know about finding a doll with no finger wires but I'd assume the fingers would have to be rather firm without them, I don't think they would last very long. I had to remove the finger wires from my first lady and the hands turned into a floppy deformed mess, they would droop all the time in all directions. They looked awful and trying to get her dressed was near impossible. Maybe there are some out there that others know about.

They can do no finger wires as a custom option if you ask the vendor i don’t believe it would add to the price, i have seen it done before, the fingers would flop a bit but better then having the anxiety of crap finger wires

I remember recently someone on the forum mentioning buying a doll recently without finger wires, I was very surprised that option was available. Not something I would be interested in, floppy fingers.

You can order pretty much any doll without finger wires? How is this not common knowledge around here?

Having seen this construction toy. I've wondered if it is a concept that doll manufacturers could miniaturize to make jointed fingers that may be cheap to make.
The bearings would have to be the size of those in a ball point pen roller ball. The bones could be a bit thicker than the normal wires and the finger sheathed to prevent the joints sepeerating. The hand might not be able to hold an object but it might offer more scope for fingers that can be articulated without the worry of a finger wire breaking. |
