Default First go at hot spoon treatment

You know when you write a really long thread with lots of pictures and then accidentally hit the "back" button and lose the whole thing? Yeah, that

Here we go again. I bought a "creme brulee" blowtorch some time ago but have only just found sufficient time (and courage) to try treating a few scuffs Sihtric has picked up. First, I covered his eyes as he was a bit apprehensive after watching me practise on an old *cough* toy that is made of TPE. Don't worry there are no pictures of that!

First, scuffed feet. He uses bolt protectors, but I switched them for plain bolts while I did this so I wouldn't damage the protectors. Both feet had similar scuffs.

Lots of oil to cover the area.

I heated the spoon for about 10 seconds (after practising a few times and getting it too hot or not hot enough this seemed to work for me). The feet turned out pretty well and look much better. The picture is with the oil dried off.

He had scuffs on his left shoulder and near his armpit. I think these appeared after I carried him while he was wearing a muscle vest and I had on an unfastened hoodie with a zip.

Plenty of oil again.

Done. The scuff near the armpit came out well enough but I had two goes at the shoulder one and didn't improve it that much. I wasn't sure what I was doing wrong. I tried heating the spoon less, then more, and using even more oil, but I couldn't get it smooth so I decided to leave it and stop torturing poor Sihtric. It's better than it was and you can't really see very well from the picture.

Glad that's over! I made it up to him with a full body oil bath - how grubby his hands and face had got since the last time, I don't know what he's been doing! Then when the oil had soaked in, loads of talc!

Now he's resting before I get him up and dressed

Looks like you made a good job there Lulu
I've not done it myself, but seeing your results gives me more confidence to try when I need to.

Good skills Lulu, you've given me the confidence to try this myself. I've got a decent quality soldering iron with smoothing attachments ready to go!

Zoey is far to active for her own good and has some scraps that will need attention soon. Also I noticed Sara has a crack in her thumb joint, that will also need some work too...the list is building.

Bravo! But i think i speak for everyone here when i ask; how is the *cough* old toy holding up?

Those foot protector things are great, i got some but they don't bloody fit. Jenny is a Gynoid and they've decided to use the most difficult to source bolts in the world... slight exaggeration. But the heads of the bolts are massive, and the shafts are... well... girthy! VERY girthy! But i really think everyone should have them, great nifty little things to help protect a dolls feet.

Anyway, looks like you did a great job m'lady! Furious applause! I find putting powder on a doll very relaxing, and it looks like you've got a great setup there, cosy too! Towels and everything.

Thanks, everybody, I was pleased with how it went.

Cabbage, the old toy is now in the bin, it was only gathering dust

I was surprised how easy it was in the end, although my heart was in my mouth when I started

Good job Lulu, better than my piss poor attempt. Luckily this time I didn't make things any worse. Incidentally, I don't know if this is old news, but Phil at The Doll House is now selling TPE chunks for 6 a pop for anyone who wants to practise. Cheapest i've seen so far.
